Personal finance writer. Sharing what I've learned managing my own money.

About me

Hi, I’m Sergio Ligero. I started PennyNex because I spent years feeling like personal finance advice on the internet was either written for people who already had money, or was aimed at a US audience with rules that didn’t apply to anyone else.

I’m not a licensed financial advisor. I’m someone who has been actively managing my own money since [TODO: year], reading about investing, taxes, and personal finance as a hobby, and putting what I learn into practice with my own savings, index funds, and side income. Everything I write on this site is based on what I’ve learned, what I’ve tried, and what has or hasn’t worked for me — with primary sources cited so you can verify the numbers yourself.

[TODO: add a paragraph about your personal financial journey — e.g., when you started investing, a debt you paid off, a financial mistake that taught you something, a book that changed how you think about money. Specificity is what reviewers and readers look for.]

[TODO: add a paragraph about what informs your writing — the books, podcasts, blogs, courses you actually use. E.g., “The Bogleheads’ Guide to Investing”, “A Random Walk Down Wall Street”, specific newsletters you read. Link them where possible.]

What PennyNex is, and isn’t

PennyNex is a personal blog — not a publication with an editorial team. The “we” and “our team” language that used to appear on this site was never accurate, and has been removed. It’s just me.

Nothing here is personalised financial advice. For decisions about your own taxes, investments, debt, or retirement, speak to a licensed professional who knows your full situation. What you’ll find here is the kind of general financial literacy content I wish I’d had access to when I was starting out, written in plain language and backed by primary sources (IRS, SEC, BLS, and the institutions behind the products I write about).
